Great read! Recommend it to anyone…God bless you…I love His snow this morning… God is good and Holy and just! He is as merciful as He is just! Mercy can not be understood except against the back drop of His justice!
When we sings songs of God’s mercy we are also singing something about His justice. The greater the mercy the greater the justice the lesser the justice the lesser the mercy. Something to chew on. God bless…
“A certain moneylender had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. When they could not pay, he cancelled the debt of both. NOW WHICH OF THEM WILL LOVE HIM MORE?” Simon answered, “The one, I suppose, for whom he cancelled THE LARGER DEBT.” And he said to him, “You have judged rightly.” Then turning toward the woman he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not ceased to kiss my feet. You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment. Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.” And he said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” Then those who were at table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this, who even forgives sins?” And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” – Luke 7:41-40
When you see some sing of God’s mercy it could just be that they have also discovered how just God is and how much more God has been merciful to them of their debt.
“Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” – Romans 5:20-6:4
