A lie in My name

Not everything that claims to be of God is of God. Sometimes, the true prophet is preaching destruction and judgement while the false prophet is preaching peace, peace.

“Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The Lord hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie.” (Jeremiah 28:15)

Now ask yourself: Where are the words of Hananiah preserved and have they endured the test of time? We only know of the words of Hananiah from the enduring and preserved words of Jeremiah!

God’s truth prevails!

“If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the Lord your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee.” (Deuteronomy 13:1–5)

“But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.” (Deuteronomy 18:20–22)

So, if one claims to be speaking in the name of the Lord and his prediction doesn’t come to pass than that prophet did not speak in the name of the Lord!

And, if one’s prediction comes true and that prophet is a prophet of another “god” then that prophet is not of God!

Shouldn’t both scenarios be no brainers! But we need this…this carries into the New Covenant/Testament writings of Scripture after Christ just as emphatically!

“And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”  (Matthew 24:4–5)

“And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.”  (Matthew 24:11)

“Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before.” (Matthew 24:23–25)

“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.”  (2 Corinthians 11:3)

“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” (2 Corinthians 11:13–15)

“I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:6–9)

“Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.” (Ephesians 5:6)

“And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” (Colossians 2:4, 8)

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;” (1 Timothy 4:1)

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”  (2 Timothy 4:3–4)

There were some people who claimed to believe in the same God as Jesus proclaimed that disagreed with Jesus on an issue of the resurrection and here is our Lord’s response:

“Jesus answered and said unto them, YE DO ERR, NOT KNOWING THE SCRIPTURES, nor the power of God.”  (Matthew 22:29)

And from memory:

“Blessed is the man that…
Walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly
Nor standeth in the way of the wicked
Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful

But his delight is…
In the law of the LORD
And in His law doth He meditate
Day and night

And he shall be like…
A tree that is planted by the rivers of waters
That bringeth forth his fruit in his season
And his leaf, also, shall not wither
But whatsoever he doeth shall prosper (Jesus Jesus Jesus)

The ungodly are not so
But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away

Therefore the ungodly
Shall not stand in the judgment
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous
For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous (Jesus Jesus Jesus)
But the way of the ungodly shall perish” – Psalm 1

Trust in Jesus over whatever it may be that you are trusting over Him!

Did you know that the Biblical writings from the BC (BCE) predicted a coming “Servant/Messiah” who would bring God’s word to the nations world over? Did you know that Jesus claimed to be that Messiah and claimed that His message would go to the nations world over? Did you know that Jesus predicted both good and bad players in His multicultural kingdom? Did you know Jesus said His kingdom is not of this world? And yet the gates of hell would not prevail against it.

The rest is history….
