And running:
“And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught. And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.” – Mark 1:21-22
Who were the “scribes”? According to a Biblical Topical Encyclopedia: “Scribes in the Bible hold a significant role, particularly in the context of ancient Israel and the New Testament period. They were more than mere copyists; they were scholars, teachers, and interpreters of the Law. Their influence and authority were substantial, especially in religious and legal matters….Their primary function was to study, interpret, and teach the Scriptures, ensuring that the Jewish people adhered to the Mosaic Law…..The Gospels frequently mention scribes in the context of their interactions with Jesus. They are often portrayed as opponents of Jesus, challenging His teachings and authority. In Matthew 23, Jesus delivers a series of woes against the scribes and Pharisees, criticizing their hypocrisy and legalism.” (Examples of scribes from a few select verses: Matthew 2:4, Matthew 5:20, Matthew 9:3, Mark 2:16, 3:22…etc etc etc)
“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? WHERE IS THE SCRIBE? WHERE IS THE DISPUTER OF THIS WORLD? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?” – 1 Corinthians 1:18-20 from the first century AD.
Where are the Scribes now? Where are the Pharisees and the Sadduccees and the Herodians and the Cesar’s and the greek gods and godesses now?
THE PREACHING OF THE CROSS GOES A PREACHING ON…IN THIS YEAR OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST 2025.
Looking forward to where the disputers of this current world will end up! Will they continually be on the best sellers list 100 years from now or will they be lost like the lost gospels, scribes and pharisees of the past?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_books. Mind you that the 2 competitors to the Bible are the Quran and the Book of Mormon who both mention Jesus in them well after the mentionings of Jesus in the Bible! So, you can thank their success to the prior worldwide success of the Bible without which they would have had nothing to shoot off from.
“…how is it that ye have no faith?” – JESUS Mark 4:40
