Maybe a stupid question but it’s one I’ve been thinking of lately though not all that deeply but a thought I was wanting to explore more. So here we go…
It seems: If an all knowing God knows what will come to pass before it comes to pass then an all knowing God could not prevent what will come to pass before it comes to pass or else it would not come to pass which would contradict what an all knowing God knows will come to pass before it comes to pass, therefore an all knowing God can not prevent what He knows will come to pass before it comes to pass.
So, I would argue that an all knowing God can not prevent what He knows will come to pass even before it comes to pass or else He would not be all knowing. So, His all knowingness is the very reason why He can not prevent what He knows will come to pass even before it comes to pass.
Kind of like an omnipotent God can not make a rock He can not lift or else He would not be omnipotent. So, an omnipotent God can not make a rock He can not lift.
An all knowing God can not know something He doesn’t know will come to pass even before it comes to pass or else He would not be all knowing. So, an all knowing God can not prevent what He knows will come to pass from coming to pass even before it comes to pass.
Maybe I’m wrong but maybe I’m right. It’s just an interesting thought when it comes to some issues with maybe answering the question as to why God knew what would come to pass before it came to pass and yet did not prevent it like evil or Satan himself.
These may be matters far above me/us and will never be fully understood. And I may be way wrong here. But remember that there are some things that God can not do according to the Scriptures like He can not lie (Titus 1:2 and Hebrews 6:18) nor deny Himself (2 Timothy 2:13)!
And I think these two characteristic of God come into play here. We are trying to understand how God knows and what are the rules of His knowledge and what not. We can’t even grasp how a tiny particle is dead or alive or both before we measure it and then the probability of whether or not it will be dead nor alive when measured is a mystery to us and now we are expected to know how God Almighty knows.
We can maybe create some frameworks to understand this issue that are within the boundaries of what God has revealed in the Scriptures and by faithful reasoning. We know that God is all knowing from Scripture and we know that He can not lie nor deny Himself and I take that this implies at the least He won’t contradict Himself and so we can go from there and other like things that He has revealed about Himself and if our reasoning doesn’t lead to contradictions of Scripture or God contradicting and denying Himself the maybe we can have a Scripturally based answer to these issues and are on a right path to answering for ourselves and others some of these difficult issues that are hard to understand.
Also, we should expect things of a Godly nature to be difficult to grasp and to wrestle with as they are by the nature of the case beyond us and we should allow for room of faith and divine revelation and prayer and disagreement for the purpose to better understand and lest we get prideful.
I believe we should be ok with not getting it all for we are but finite minds trying to grasp the infinite which means we will need help from the infinite inevitably and rationallyof necessity. And so in the spirit of Hebrews 11:6, Job 9:10-12, Hebrews 11:3, 1 Peter 3:15-16 and Genesis 1:26-28, 2:19-20!
“[10] I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it. [11] He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.” – Ecclesiastes 3:10,11
But never ever forget that the fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom Proverbs 1:7, 9:10. Without our ALL KNOWING AND OMNIPOTENT GOD there is no real knowledge nor wisdom and one reason maybe because we will never have all data to know whether or not what we claim to know is real knowledge. Only one who knows everything really KNOWS anything! “What is truth?” Pontius Pilate said while standing in front of “the way , THE TRUTH and the life” Jesus Christ!
Only Jesus can saves us from our eternal ignorance!
