My favorite secular scientist! I was taught well by Ken Ham to be aware of the interpretations and the difference between observational science vs. historical, theoretical etc etc. I like scientists who seem to be honest with how science works like Sabbine and doesn’t over hype the science.
As a Christian and with honest science, these verses come to mind from Scripture.
1) we are to study God’s creation for good: “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” – Genesis 1:26
”And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” – Genesis 1:31
Adam gave names to the animals after observing them in Genesis 2. Adam named the woman after observing her, and then Adam named the woman Eve, for she was the mother of all living. So we have Adam constructing and categorizing the world set before him. Men have given names to the stars and constellations as we see in Job even though God already knows them all by name. And much more could be said about personal hygiene and the life in the blood and the l highways in the oceans etc etc etc.
2) And as we go about sciencing, we should discover as a Christian these truths in God’s word: “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; And his greatness is unsearchable.” – Psalm 145:3 and as Job describes God in Job 9:8-12 “[8] Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, And treadeth upon the waves of the sea. [9] Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, And the chambers of the south. [10] Which doeth great things past finding out; Yea, and wonders without number. [11] Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not: He passeth on also, but I perceive him not. [12] Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? Who will say unto him, What doest thou?”
But this should not discourage us to discover more of God’s unsearchableness thruout creation as Ecclesiastes 3:11 states that God wants us to discover (science) but also to discover in our discoveries that he is indeed past finding and there is no end of discovery in our infinite awesome Creator God (which is a Godly cure for boredom)! He Himself is beyond science but yet we can to some degree know this by sciencing!
”[10] I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it. [11] He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.” – Ecclesiastes 3:10-11
Science is hard work, but it is a good work as long as we don’t equate science itself with God we should be alright! We need God’s Word to rightly understand the limits, scopes and purpose of science and ethics! Never forget the ethics involved in science and that I do not believe can result from science itself. They seem to go hand in hand in a Christian worldview but both come from the hands of God and not the subjective sin scarred minds of Adamites though we have a God given conscience we seem to seer it often to our own self destruction!
We need to become new men and women as we are male and female created in His image! We need forgiveness and atonement for all our sins we have committed all our life over. Nothing wrong with sciencing before or after Christ but now we see the creation and each other and God in all its glorious true light but God’s ways are still yet pass finding out from beginning to end and probably for all eternity we will continue to discover as we will never be God ourselves but there is something good about that. Let God be God and may we be but humble men and women of God and be content with having an amazing God as God is over us! Look to the cross, believe and be saved! That is where God’s love for us is declared and His disgust of sin and where His justice and mercy meet and for our salvation in Christ alone. No other religion has this. God has declared emphatically and in a most unique way to decipher Himself from all the frauds. ”[31] Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. [32] And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. [33] This he said, signifying what death he should die.” – Jesus from John 12:31-33 And please do read Isaiah 42:1-6 and 49:1-6 and 53 for the prophet Isaiah declaring what Jesus would do hundreds of years before Jesus. Jesus fulfills these amazing prophecies for the last 2000 years! Remember the Bible is a collection of writings that were written over hundreds of years. It is not just one book! This is logically important to know!
Science is fun and awe inspiring as it is a gift from God but we should never idolize it! Be content in your science and may it never contradict your Creator lest you become a fool and say in your heart there is no Creator. This is not a foolishness of intelligence but a morally foolish position to be putting yourself above your Creator! Maybe it is to a degree intellectually foolish too!
Naturalism apriorily excludes God! Not cool…anyhow God bless
