“Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord. Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.” – Matthew 13:51-53 “Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which … Continue reading Try to understand…

A good principle when interpreting the Bible. The Bible consist of many writings in both the Old and New Testaments. God preserved all of them in the Bible and so to rightly understand the Bible one ought to take both Testaments in context of each other to rightly understand the Bible in its entirety or else one is not rightly understanding the Bible to then believe or not to believe. If you accept or reject the Bible be sure it is a steel Bible and not a straw Bible that you are rejecting. One ought to read from beginning to … Continue reading Later skater…

Well, do you?

Well, do you? Either Jesus is your ultimate authority or something else is? You will either review the Scriptures thru the eyes of Jesus or thru other eyes that are more authoritative in your eyes then Jesus. You can’t serve two ultimate authorities! Either Jesus is or he is not your ultimate authority. An ultimate authority is an ultimate authority. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.” – John 4:25-26 God holds us responsible to nobody else’s understanding of His Word but Jesus’s! “I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which … Continue reading Let Jesus be your authority

When better practiced in our Lord’s words

Augustine 400 AD “And by letters I notified thy bishop, the holy man Ambrose, of my former errors and my present resolution. And I asked his advice as to which of Thy books it was best for me to read so that I might be the more ready and fit for the reception of so great a grace. He recommended Isaiah the prophet; and I believe it was because Isaiah foreshows more clearly than others the gospel, and the calling of the Gentiles. But because I could not understand the first part and because I imagined the rest to be … Continue reading When better practiced in our Lord’s words

The OT should be understood in light of the NT

To Biblically understand the Old Testament you need to rightly understand the New Testament! To understand the Old Testament ignoring the New Testament is fine but it’s not Biblical! To properly represent what the Bible says about the Old Testament one must not ignore the New Testament or one will only be understanding an incorrect understanding of the Old Testament and thus an incorrect understanding of the Bible. “The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto … Continue reading The OT should be understood in light of the NT

Here in lay my sin

But here in lay my sin, that it was not in him, but in his creatures–myself and the rest–that I sought for pleasures, honors, and truths. And I fell thereby into sorrows, troubles, and errors. Thanks be to thee, my joy, my pride, my confidence, my God–thanks be to thee for thy gifts; but do thou preserve them in me. For thus wilt thou preserve me; and those things which thou hast given me shall be developed and perfected, and I myself shall be with thee, for from thee is my being. – Augustine 400 ADish from “The Confessions of Saint Augustine” Continue reading Here in lay my sin
