To the soul that seeketh Him

“Most scholars also agree that the Book of Lamentations was composed shortly after Jerusalem’s fall in 586 BCE.” – wikipedia Intense, mixed bag of emotions! Wow! “Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins? Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord. Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens. We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.” (Lamentations 3:39–42) The pardon is in Jesus Christ! Seek the pardon by faith in Jesus! Trust Him with your salvation and your salvation … Continue reading To the soul that seeketh Him

The beauty of Israel

Lamentations 2:1 lamenting the fall of Jerusalem to Babylon 587 or 586 BC depending of the view of the scholar. Chapter 2 of Lamentations is written as an acrostic poem. This means that in the original Hebrew, each of the 22 verses begins with the next letter of the Hebrew alphabet, going in order from the first letter (aleph) to the last (tav). “Her gates are sunk into the ground; he hath destroyed and broken her bars: Her king and her princes are among the Gentiles: the law is no more; Her prophets also find no vision from the Lord.” … Continue reading The beauty of Israel

She remembereth not her last end

Lamentations 1:9 lamenting the fall of Jerusalem to Babylon 587 or 586 BC depending of the view of the scholar. Chapter 1 of Lamentations is written as an acrostic poem. This means that in the original Hebrew, each of the 22 verses begins with the next letter of the Hebrew alphabet, going in order from the first letter (aleph) to the last (tav). Reminded me of Psalms 73 (apparently a chiastic poem) where the Psalmist discoveres the answer to his dilemma in God’s house concerning the pain of evil men flourishing: “When I thought how to understand this, It was … Continue reading She remembereth not her last end

To the saving of the soul

“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” – Hebrews 10:31 “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; BUT OF THEM THAT BELIEVE TO THE SAVING OF THE SOUL.” – Hebrews 10:38–39 “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” – John 3:14–15 Trust Jesus … Continue reading To the saving of the soul

There must be hersies…

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; BY REASON OF WHOM THE WAY OF TRUTH SHALL BE EVIL SPOKEN OF.” – 2 Peter 2:1–2 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. He answered and said unto them, He that soweth … Continue reading There must be hersies…

Flee, save your lives

Flee, save your lives, And be like the heath in the wilderness. For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, Thou shalt also be taken: And Chemosh shall go forth into captivity With his priests and his princes together. And the spoiler shall come upon every city, And no city shall escape: The valley also shall perish, And the plain shall be destroyed, As the Lord hath spoken. Give wings unto Moab, That it may flee and get away: For the cities thereof shall be desolate, Without any to dwell therein. Cursed be he that doeth … Continue reading Flee, save your lives

To tremble or not to tremble

Jeremiah 36 and must read! The whole motive and spirit of Jeremiah’s book is revealed! Some take heed and some don’t but the whole point is: “that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.” (Jeremiah 36:3) and this is sent specifically to Judah in the days of a King of Judah but take note that this is also for “that nations” too! I was praying this morning that I would take God’s Word more seriously because of Isaiah 66:2 and what a chapter to then read! (Not that I don’t but sometimes you can get a little mechanical if … Continue reading To tremble or not to tremble

Reject hermeticism turn to Jesus

If you are tempted with hermeticism and esotericism etc etc etc…I feel that…let these verses settle your heart! It did mine one night under temptation of this sort of stuff even after being a believer and it has greatly blessed my mind and walk with God ever since. God bless… “For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; that their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance … Continue reading Reject hermeticism turn to Jesus

Be good…

Anything less would be an idol of an ungodly mind… “And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.” – Matthew 10:17-18 There is no such thing as a good person in Christian thought as all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (the only really good one according to Jesus). So, no one gets … Continue reading Be good…
