The New Testament and the Old Testament both view idols and any god but the One True God as inventions of men and are connected with devils.
“What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils. Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?” – 1 Corinthians 10:19-22
“They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger. THEY SACRIFICED UNTO DEVILS, (Greek Septuagint – “daimonion”. Same word for devils in the New Testament that were being cast out of people by Jesus) not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not. Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.” – Deuteronomy 32:16-18
Even a nation that claims to be “Under God” can miserably provoke God…
“But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works. And THEY SERVED THEIR IDOLS: which were a snare unto them. YEA, THEY SACRIFICED THEIR SONS AND THEIR DAUGHTERS UNTO DEVILS, And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, WHOM THEY SACRIFICED UNTO THE IDOLS OF CANAAN: and THE LAND WAS POLLUTED WITH BLOOD. Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with THEIR OWN INVENTIONS.” – Psalm 109:35-39
Let us not invent words that cover our sins and in this case the sin of murder. Let us confess our sins and he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins! I know of a close one who was involved with 7 abortions (that is shedding the blood of 7 innocent one’s and those 7 are in the arms of God but it still doesn’t make it right only Jesus does or hell) but he found Jesus or rather Jesus found Him. He got saved and over time worked thru this issue with Jesus (not easy) and now He is out there sharing the same love of Jesus with as many as he comes across. He had many people and family praying for him as I was one of them praying and what an amazing change Jesus can write from our inside out! Anyhow, there is grace and mercy for those who seek for it!
But you will never seek for it if you invent such words up.
“Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, Insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance. And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; And they that hated them ruled over them. Their enemies also oppressed them, And they were brought into subjection under their hand. Many times did he deliver them; But they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity. NEVERTHELESS HE REGARDED THEIR AFFLICTION (even those who were putting their kids thru the fire), WHEN HE HEARD THEIR CRY: And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of HIS MERCIES. HE MADE THEM ALSO TO BE PITIED OF ALL THOAE THAT CARRIED THEM CAPTIVES. Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, To give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise. Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: And let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD.” – Psalm 106:40-48
“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” – John 3:14-17
“And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. This he said, signifying what death he should die.” – John 12:32-33
“Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death: that THE SAYING OF JESUS MIGHT BE FULFILLED, which he spake, SIGNIFYING WHAT DEATH HE SHOULD DIE.” – John 18:31-32
“For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But GOD COMMENDETH HIS LOVE TOWARD US, IN THAT, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we: have now received the atonement.” – Romans 5:6-11
